We’re trying to take things a little easy this month and are gearing up for an event-heavy fall, bringing you lots of celebrations and brand new ideas. Are y’all also feeling all the retrogrades? Things with us are a bit slow and low capacity right now, but putting on events for the community is truly what enlivens us.
NEW EVENT SERIES ALERT! Transgender Survival Skills Series
DIY Museum proudly presents…..Transgender Survival Skillshare Series!!!!

Trans Survival Skillshare is an event series focused on gaining essential life skills in an all-queer, supportive space. Many of us have faced barriers to accessing information on things like car maintenance or makeup, and DIY Museum is here to solve that problem! Every trans person deserves to learn whatever skills they want to cultivate for themselves, and we are here to help provide a nurturing environment for that to happen.
This series will run August - November, featuring over 6 workshops covering different skills to help trans individuals survive and thrive. This month, we are kicking off the series with a Queer Self Defense Workshop! Workshops will be announced monthly so keep your eyes peeled for more exciting events in this series next month.
This program is made possible by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, who kindly granted us $1,000 to make this series into a reality. We are using this grant to pay trans facilitators, gather supplies for the workshops, and subsidize workshop tickets for attendees.
All workshops in this series will be sliding scale, with NOTAFLOF tickets available via our email diy.museumbay@gmail.com

Solidarity Cinema #1: Closing Remarks
On July 27th, DIY Museum and Bay2Gaza Mutual Aid teamed up for the screening of 5 short films by Palestinian filmmakers from the Solidarity Cinema library. Special thanks to Mama Ganuush for being vulnerable while speaking on our post-film discussion panel.
This was our highest attended event ever! With your support, we raised over $2,500 for Gazan families surviving genocide.
I know there were many people we had to turn away at the door after we sold out and we sincerely apologize we couldn’t fit everyone who wanted to attend in the theatre. In light of so many people wanting to view the films, we archived the full video of all 5 short films on our website for your viewing pleasure!
We are planning Solidarity Cinema #2 for October so stay tuned for more details!
